The Way of Salvation

God is reaching out to offer you LIFE.

Have you ever wondered what the Gospel is or what it means to be saved?

Let’s explore these words using the acrostic L-I-F-E. It stands for Love, Isolation, Faith and Eternal Life.

LOVE
God loves you and desires a relationship with you. He wants you to experience a life full of his love, peace and joy.

The Bible says,
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27

“Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy” 1 Peter 1:8

If God offers so much, why don’t more people experience this life?

ISOLATION
We have all been born with a natural tendency towards sin. It is our sin that isolates and separates us from God and others. This tendency towards sin is everywhere. Look around! This world is full of hatred, violence and depression.

The Bible says,
“Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.” Isaiah 59:1-3

“There is no one righteous, not even one” Romans 3:10

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23

So how can we escape our isolation from God?

FAITH
Some people try by going to church, giving money to charities, or living a “good life.” But all of these things fall short of restoring us to a holy and just God. The Good News of the gospel is that God has done what we can not do. He gave his only son, Jesus Christ, to take the punishment we rightfully deserve. When we repent of our sins and turn to him in faith we can experience His love, peace and joy. To repent simply meets to realize how wrong our sin is, be sorry for it, turn away from it and turn to God. The Bible says,

“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.” 1 Peter 3:8

“…we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.” 1 John 2:1;2

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8;9

“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord” Acts 3:19

“So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith,” Galatians 3:26

ETERNAL LIFE
When we reach out to God in faith, he gives us the gift of eternal life. We begin experiencing this life the moment we believe, and will continue through eternity.

The Bible says,
“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” 1 John 3:13

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23

This is what it means to be alive… fully alive.

God is offering you the gift of life, eternal life. Will you accept it?

“See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction.” Deuteronomy 30:15;

“Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve… But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15
